Abstract

So far very little is known about what business models are used by Romanian small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). The study aims to investigate what are the current business models used by SMEs in Romania. Considering the critical role of these entities in the global national economies, understanding their business models becomes imperative for identifying new avenues for development and innovation. This article offers an analysis, using a case study approach, of the current prevailing business models in Romanian SMEs and the main challenges faced in their quest for survival or growth. The finding of the study contributes to a better understanding of the business models of Romanian SMEs and identifies possible innovation strategies that companies can explore to achieve sustainable growth.
